As the co-founding partner of Cohen & Fitch LLP, Mr. Fitch is heavily focused on the firm’s Civil Rights practice where he successfully obtained millions of dollars in compensation for his clients and has vindicated the rights of thousands of New Yorkers whose constitutional rights have been violated at the hands of law enforcement, City officials and private parties. In addition, because of his extensive prosecutorial experience, he maintains a successful criminal defense practice, which has resulted in numerous dismissals, acquittals after trial and other favorable dispositions for his clients.

Mr. Fitch was born in Boston, Massachusetts and obtained his law degree at New England School of Law where he graduated Magna Cum Laude. While in law school he was an Editor of the New England Law Review whose work was published and has been cited by Law Reviews across the country. He is a member of the bar of the State of New York, the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit and the United States District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York. In addition, Mr. Fitch heads the firms appellate practice and has successfully litigated numerous appeals at both the State and Federal level. His trial and appellate success has been extensively documented in numerous legal publications and reporters throughout New York and the Country.

Mr. Fitch began his career as an Assistant District Attorney in Bronx County, where he prosecuted violent crimes such as assault, weapons possession, robbery, burglary and attempted murder. Mr. Fitch excelled quickly as an Assistant District Attorney, rapidly gaining the respect of his colleagues and peers as a outstanding litigator. As a prosecutor, he conducted numerous trials achieving an impeccable trial record and handled thousands of cases on behalf of the People of the State of New York. He has been recognized as a Rising Star in Civil Rights litigation by Super Lawyers.

Following his career as an Assistant District Attorney, Mr. Fitch went on to join a well known personal injury defense firm in New York City, where he continued his successful practice as a trial attorney. While there he acted as trial counsel defending a variety of personal injury matters and achieved numerous defense verdicts. Having already achieved great success in legal career on behalf of other offices, Mr. Fitch sought to form his own law firm with his friend and former prosecutor colleague Gerald Cohen. In 2008, Cohen & Fitch LLP was formed.
